The library's answers

The test-week is a survey that enables us to know you better. It has been conducted on the 10 libraries of the network.
Thanks to this study, we have a better vision of your wishes and needs, so that we can work with the university to find a way to improve ourselves.
Some solutions need more time to be implemented because we must think of the spatial organisation of our libraries and we must take our rules into account before making any change.

The services

What kind of different services can the library provide ?

With the help of our different departments, we are working on shooting a video to introduce the different services of the library ! Meanwhile you can find all our services here. 
On the other hand, we are thinking of a plan that will help us introduce the library to every student.

How can I make inquiries on the library's documents ? How can I make books suggestions?

The library provides online disciplinary guides, in which you can find documents and methodology regarding every topic taught In CYU. On each guide, you can contact the specialist librarian of the topic consulted.
In the training section, tutorials are available in order to find documents easily.

 You can suggest a book or another type of document by filling in the following form. You can also submit your suggestions to the specialist librarian of your feed by contacting them through your disciplinary guide. It is also possible to tell us your ideas at the  library's reception.
Your requests and any other suggestions are thoroughly studied by the librarians.

Why can't I have access to WI-Fi ?

With the help of the IT department of the university we are working on increasing the WI-FI quality in our libraries.

Can students of universities oustide the CY network access WI-Fi ?

• If you are a student of a university belonging to CY Alliance, you need to register (free registration) online or at the library's front desk in order to benefit from every service of the library (WI-FI, study rooms, loans). An agent will give you a card that will enable you to enter the Cerclades library. You need to ask user ID's at the library's reception in order to connect to CYU-WIFI-GUEST.
• If you are a student from another university, please use the WI-Fi networks named EDUSPOT AND EDUROAM (connect with the user ID's used in your university). Learn more here.

Can students of universities outside the CY network borrow books for free?

• If you are a student of a university belonging to CY Alliance, you need to register (free registration) online or at the library's front desk in order to benefit from every services of the library (WI-FI, study rooms, loans). An agent will give you a card that will enable you to enter the Cerclades library.
• If you are studying in a university outside CY's network, we suggest you to use the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service of your universty in order to borrow CY libraries' documents. You must ask to retrieve them at your university's library.

Where can I eat at the Library ?

Most of our libraries have "break and snack" areas. Please note that complete hot meals are forbidden.

Why are some areas forbidden in ou libraries (Saint-Martin's mezzanine, Cerclades' patio...) ?

These areas are closed for safety reasons or for managment of noise level, or during certain periods of the year.

How can I notify a problem in my library (noise, cold, misbehaviour, uncleanliness...)?

Please warn the librarian at the reception desk of the area in question. Besides, we are actively working with the university in order to find solutions to the recurring difficulties you report.

Why do some libraries close earlier than others ?

The schedules and closing times of our libraries depend on the ones of the university's site they are on. The Cerclades library is opened until 10 PM. during exams.

Concerning your libraries

Why can't we go to the Saint-Martin's Mezzanine ?

The architerchture of Saint-Martin's Library doesn't enable us to open the floor below because of noise amplification. Yet, we are thinking of another use for this area. An ongoing study concerning the reorganisation of the library's spaces is working on offering new seating areas and study rooms for group works.

It is too hot at the Chênes library during summer.

When will there be seating areas at the Saint-Germain-en-Laye's library ?

We are in a temporary library waiting for the opening of the Learning Center planned for September 2025, in the future building S.

I truly appreciate the evening schedule (8 P.M to 10 P.M). I wish it existed more...
